we are surrounded by people every day.

Every day we have the ability to affect those around us. While our actions may feel small and unassuming, they have an undeniable capacity to provoke, inspire, and distinctly touch others. Sometimes, with no true motive or intention, a complete stranger will affect us in a way that may, ever so slightly, shift our life. And, more likely than not, they will never know.

This is what dear stranger letters are for.

To acknowledge the people who silently make us smile, or think, or imagine, or dream a little bit more. To say thank you to our neighbors and to remind others, and ourselves, that our presence in this world never goes unnoticed. In our often enigmatic and fast-paced lives, a simple, shared moment with others can help remind us of our place in it all.

When we choose to see our neighbors, to accept them, to celebrate them, and to be inspired by them, our grand world becomes smaller. Someone that existed in our sphere for a moment's time can become a part of our life's journey. A fleeting moment can grow to last a lifetime and can remind us that a stranger isn't so strange at all.
